Cami Presha, LMHC

Hi, I’m Cami! As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I have worked in a variety of settings helping teens and adults who experience different mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma and substance use, as well as those who felt overwhelmed, misunderstood, had difficulty with life transitions or relationships, or want more balance and peace in their life. My style is eclectic, and my approach is person centered. I use behavior therapy techniques to identify patterns, triggers, and make changes, though to help you get to where you're going, I need to know where you're coming from.

Therapy is for everyone. Humans, and their inner most thoughts and feelings, are complicated. Imagine what a more thoughtful and peaceful world it would be if everyone prioritized their mental health.  While feeling distressed is often a catalyst to searching for a therapist, already having the tools to alleviate distressful feelings can help you emotionally regulate and cope during times of stress and hardship. 

Therapy is not, nor should it be, one size fits all. You can expect me to help you through life’s challenges, identify maladaptive behaviors and develop healthier coping skills. When your thoughts, feelings and actions are not aligned with the peace you desire, it can cause incredible distress to your wellbeing and relationships. Therapy can be a powerful experience which brings up many emotions. We will process these emotions together, as partners in your mental health journey. 

Additionally, as a mixed-race person I have had success connecting with people who feel “othered” in our society, who have struggled with their identity, and have helped them to find harmony within themselves. Let's chat about what brought you here and about where you want to go next!

Individual Therapy

What to expect in therapy largely depends on you, as you are the expert in your own life. Your perspective is as unique as you are as an individual. We all fall prey to black and white thinking. I will help you challenge your core beliefs, process trauma & reframe your intrusive thoughts. What you can expect is, I will always lead with empathy, and I will always be honest. I want you to live with more focus, balance, develop boundaries and practice self-compassion.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a safe space to give and get support from others who have experienced something similar or share a specific challenge. So often we feel alone in our struggles.  Every group I have facilitated has a moment when someone says, "I thought I was the only one." This always takes my breath away and reminds me of how powerful group can be. 

Teen Therapy

Being a teenager in today's world comes with unique and often very complicated feelings, concerns and behavior patterns. Your child's future success and happiness is largely informed by their development during their teenage years. I will work with your teen to identify and implement positive behavior techniques. My goal is that what we accomplish in therapy will last far beyond our time together and will set your teen on a course towards better mental health.
